Our priority is effective health and safety management which is demonstrated by our various trade accreditations.
We are SSIP accredited with Safecontractor, CHAS, Constructionline, Achilles and SMAS. We have full ISO/OHSAS18001 accreditation and operate a comprehensive health and safety management system, with all site staff fully trained and holding CSCS/CSR/SafePass cards.
Our approach to health and safety is proactive, rigorous and embedded right across the company. This is managed by our full time Safety, Health and Environment manager, Richard Green.
On site, specific risk assessments and safety method statements for that project are produced, as well as COSHH assessments for all materials used. Each project has a nominated site supervisor working on site who in turn is supervised by the contracts manager for that project. Regular site safety audits are also carried out, as well as tool box talks on topics appropriate to each site.
All of this is underpinned by our ‘Work Safe’ policy.
Sub-contractors that we may use for specialist tasks are regularly vetted and supervised on site as if we directly employ them. We never subcontract entire projects, so we retain all works within our control.
We also acknowledge our responsibility for our environment and are committed to protecting it by seeking to conserve natural resources through the responsible use of energy and materials.
We carry out full COSHH assessment of all the materials used on site to monitor their environmental impact. We have full ISO 14001 accreditation for our Environmental Management System, which is regularly reviewed to guide our work in this area.
We aim to increase the environmental awareness of our staff through environmental awareness training for all ultimately, and for contracts managers to be CITB SEATS trained. The expectation is that in time this will evolve into an aware workforce who will make a valuable contribution towards our environmental goals and help make our EMS work.
